The perfect holiday look? A neat, simple and yet elegant tied-back style. Joico offers a real passe-partout of hairdressing stylishness: Crown Braid
Royal and sophisticated, à la Grace Kelly, with a modern touch to finish it off. The secret? A plaited knot that might look complex but is in fact really simple to achieve. With the help of Joice professional Eric Mayes and fashion blogger Sophie Elkus, we can show you how to create it. To create the herringbone plait, divide the hair into two identical sections.
Take a fine section from the outer part on the left and cross/join it with the right-hand section. Repeat on the right-hand side and continue in the same way until the plait is completed to 5cm from the bottom. Fix the hair with an invisible hair elastic.
1. SECTION HAIR
Prepare the hair with Joico’s Restorative Styling Oil to stop hair ends from splitting. Divide hair into four identical sections, two in front and two behind. Twist the sections and create some chignons. Each time a chignon is twisted, spray it with Joico’s Power Spray for texture and hold.
2. WEAVE THE FRONT SECTIONS
Work on one of the two chignons, dividing it into two sections. Create a soft French plait reaching the earlobe and pin it at the bottom with an invisible hair elastic. Then weave the rest of the hair in a herringbone pattern. Repeat on the other side.
3. WEAVE THE BACK HERRINGBONE SECTIONS
Continue with the two back sections, plaiting the hair in a herringbone pattern and securing it all with hairbands at 7/10 cm from the bottom.
4. SECURE THE PLAITS AT THE BACK
Twist the right-hand plait over the left one towards the back, securing it all above the temple area. Repeat the same procedure on the left-hand side.
5. SECURE THE FRONTAL PLAITS
Shift the front plaits towards the back and cross them, securing them behind each earlobe. The front plaits should create a X-shaped section at the back of the hair.
6. THE END LOOK
This Greek-inspired hairstyle is perfect for a day packed with social visits, shopping and long walks, whilst being both glamorous and practical.
