HCF is… Evolution!

Sunday, February 14, at the Carrousel du Louvre. Your regular Sunday, under the sign of the elegance of French hairdressing in the world. A series of shows by Haute Coiffure Française and the presentation of the Evolution collection.

The special venue at the Carrousel du Louvre was bustling with attendees coming from the 42 countries where Haute Coiffure Française operates. For its sixty-fifth anniversary, Hcf invited them on a journey through space and time. Under the leadership of new president, Francis Rhod, and his vice-president, Nicolas Christ, and in front of many top personalities of L’Oréal’s Professional Product Division, world president Nicolas Hiéronimus, and General Manager France, Laurent Dubois, the event was marked by the concept of evolution.

Through a plethora of symbols : fashion – which never stops evolving, changing season after season – and hairdressing, always changing thanks to technological developments and the creativity of its professionals. The artistic team, led by Christophe Gaillet, presented a new collection aptly called Evolution, with variations in short, very short and men’s styles. A structured cut that unites contrasts in colour and materials, shot by a video system allowing stylists an immediate view of all the preparatory lines for the cut.

From Chicago to Santa Monica, from Cairo to Lagos and even from London to Johannesburg : the images on video were an invite to dream and discover. From one continent to the other, adventure is everywhere. Landscapes, people, and their culture. Their everyday lives. Their rhythm, their taste, their colours. The subject is infinite and can renew itself endlessly. Sophie Bauçais, Laurent Tourette, Philippe Laurent presented their interpretations inspired by a very personal travel journal. Eric Zemmour’s vision, in particular, brought back to life the happy times of wealthy travellers, the elegance of the Orient Express, the carefree attitude of the years between the two wars… the epoch of a refined woman that Eric Zemmour imagines with a geometric and light cut.

Another version of evolution was presented in the Chrysalide show. With extreme skill, Laurent Decreton, Christophe Gaillet and Laetitia Guenaou presented the hatching of a gorgeous woman-butterfly. Long tresses with citrusy yellow, pink highlights opening up to the light – a small head barely visible between the iridescent purple hair-matter. Fragile and ephemeral, in wonderful paper dresses created by Laurent Dujardin, to symbolise a fleeting and sublime life. The invite to dream then continued with Jean-Luc Minetti for Alexandre de Paris.

Stéphane Rolland’s haute couture collection, with a palette of black and white grey, rolled out in front of our eyes in the silhouettes’ beautiful frame. Harmonious shapes. Precise volumes. Matter and craftsmanship at their best. And the final touch of composed, pure, elaborate chignons … Finally the winners of the second edition of the Hcf Trophy 2010 – selected in December amongst a hundred of entries from 21 countries – were announced. Ten made it to the finals and were judged during the day by a professional panel including Estetica’s Publisher, Roberto Pissimiglia.

And the winners are: Hcf 2010 first place, Anastasia Scherbakova (Russia), second place Cyrill Hohl (Luxemburg), third place Vladimir Dubinin (Russia); audience award Cyrill Hohl (Luxemburg); L’Oréal Professionnel colour award, Anastasia Scherbakova.
