Comparing two generations. Two types of look, two different trends. Spring 2009 for Toni&Guy moves in two different directions – the “Barber’s old school” look and “College Boy” style. The common denominator is the re-discovery of a love of sobriety, neatness and clean-cut lines, all comprised in the more mature version or the younger look.
So the self-assured man now turns to Clark Kent for inspiration, the bespectacled super-hero. The barber’s tools are once again en vogue for cuts that highlight masculine features – short sideburns, perfect hold or even GI-style. Frills and messiness are off the menu.
The youthful version, however, looks to Peter Parker, Marvel’s Spiderman with the double identity as a clumsy newspaper photographer. But it’s also influenced by Greek statues – clearly-defined hair strands, clean lines, perfect cuts, neat shapes. Models no longer rule the roost, it’s the turn of the boy-next-door.
