Top professional standards and optimum salon expertise are first and foremost, in a Vietnamese hair industry award designed to ferment skilled creativity.
If a group of talented hairdressers are brought together and allowed to release their creative juices, it is only natural that sooner or later their thoughts turn to competition… And in Vietnam, these ambitious young professionals have their wishes granted with the Vietnam Top Hairstylist Award event, organized by Salonzo Cosmetic J.C. Close to one hundred eager hairdressers battled it out in September, through four elimination rounds, as the judging panel faced the difficult task of whittling down the shortlist. The judging panel acknowledged the high level of work that they were presented with by all participants.
Using Alonzo Australia's top quality products, the participants were faced with interpreting the concept of “Mysterious Orient”, drawing on traditional heritage as well as current fashion trends for inspiration. The event kicked off in the morning with entrants demonstrating their cut and colour skills before the panel of seven jurors and ten mentors, all carefully assessing a number of factors to rank the wonderful creations on show. The evening session was even more adrenaline-thrilled as the winning looks were presented live on-stage in front of one thousand spectators.
All entries admirably rendered the initial concept and the finalists offered these interpretations: Nguyen Dai Duong (Fantasy), Pham Ngoc Manh (Pearl of Far East), Nguyen Minh Dung (Oriental Myth), Ngo Thanh Kien (Sunset on the Desert), Hoang Tran Tung (Light Path), Ta Van Quyen (Melted Ice), Le Thanh Loc (Dawn Light), Dao Manh Minh (Yinyan), Dao Truong Giang (Goddess), Nhu Dinh Ngoc (Succulent), Nguyen Hoang Tuan (Sakura), Nguyen Duy Tien (Ngoc Island), Vu Ngoc Tuyen (Watercolors Painting), Vu Van Chien (Sunshine), Vu Xuan Tuc (Sunset in the Sea), Bui Duc Quang (Awaken), Nguyen Thu Cuong (Sunset), Hoang Ngoc Thuong (The East), and Nguyen Cong Ha (Oriental Myth).
The intense day of hard work and concentration was finally at a close and all the awards could then be announced. This year’s event saw an innovation in the form of the Estetica Best Look Award, a mark of international prestige and recognition. This new title goes to the best photo entry from the morning session, as selected by the Estetica editorial team, and this year went to Dao Truong Giang. The overall champion was named as Vu Xuan Tuc, whilst top prizes (“gold” awards)were presented to Nguyen Hoang Tuan and Dao Truong Giang (his second award of the night). Another (“diamond”) award went to Dao Manh Minh, who was praised for his results in the face of adversity (after he was obliged by unforeseen circumstances to change model at the last minute).
The audience agreed unanimously with the judges’ selection and the winners themselves were overcome by the intensity of the moment and the strength of the audience’s support. The Vietnam Top Hairstylist event thus ushered in the start of another twelve months of top-level professional hairdressing for the region.
