With the global situation increasingly restless and the economy in a bust, it’s becoming more and more difficult to get away even if just for a day. But Paul Mitchell Editorial Director Lucie Doughty reminds us that daydreaming is perfectly healthy and can even inspire solutions to help us feel better about everything in general.
Her latest “Head in the Clouds” collection is inspired by surrealist artist René Magritte, offering fresh ideas to lend a new lease on life.
Doughty elaborates, “The images are a play on texture communicated through an editorial story of a girl trying to find her way in life. I wanted to communicate the story in the feel of Magritte’s artwork, which often illustrates the juxtaposition of everyday objects in unusual contexts.” In fact, these models seem to be observing their world from different perspectives, literally out-of-the- box (except for one!), their hair for the most part defying gravity in elegant and asymmetric upsweep.
